Can I submit in-progress work and get feedback?

 No.

Can I submit many works at once?

Yes. Feel free to submit as much fiction, criticism, review, or poetry that you want. If you do, please put each work into a separate file.

Can I submit old works I wrote a long time ago? What about works that I've published elsewhere?

Yes, so long as it's your work and you are able to give me the rights to publish it in the magazine.

How should I submit fiction?

I accept literary and genre fiction. Among genre fiction I accept all kinds of genres including science fiction, fantasy, mystery, thriller, romance, adventure, and works that doesn't neatly fit into any genre. I do not accept fan-fiction or erotic fiction, including romantasy.

New writers should submit short stories rather than part of a long-form work of fiction for serialization. I will accept serialized fiction if the entire work is provided at once or if the writer has demonstrated an ability to write consistently with acceptable quality.

How should I submit a critique or review?

I accept critiques and reviews of fiction, including movies, TV shows, books, short stories, video games, and poetry. The best reviews are timely, relevant, and direct, meant to answer the question "is this worth my time?". Long-form analysis is reserved for critique; meant to offer a new perspective or in-depth examination of a work. While a critique or review may touch on real world politics if relevant to the work, it should first and foremost be about the work under review.

I do not accept journalism or gossip.

How should I submit poetry?

I accept short-form and long-form poetry. Particularly long poems may be serialized across multiple issues, but you must submit the entire poem at once.

How to Get Published

Who decides what gets published?

 I do.

What do you look for?

Just because you've submitted a work doesn't mean you'll get published. When considering what to publish I look for the following:

  • Command of the English language
  • Attention given to the prose
  • Playing to the strengths of the medium
  • Sincerity
